Pacific Grove is known for many things. A breathtaking coastline, cute Victorian homes, the Monarch Butterfly and an easy way of life. One of the most recognizable and here today and gone tomorrow attractions in our sanctuary by the sea is simply known as the “magic carpet.
It’s official name is a mouthful… drosanthemum floribundum, but it is commonly referred to as magenta ice plant. Dormant throughout most of the year, it begins to bloom during the spring and over the course of the next few weeks transforms the green seaside hues of the area to bright pastel purples.
Located in Pacific Grove’s Perkins Park, the bloom draws locals and visitors alike to experience this once a year color explosion!
